Dommy's First Haircut

On the way from Hilton Head to Raleigh Mike realized that we were going to make it during business hours and that he could catch a haircut at Esquire Haircutters where he went for ~10 years while living in Raleigh. Like everywhere, your barber begins to feel like family if you go to the same place that long, so we stopped by for a haircut. While waiting for Mike's turn, we decided to ask Ronny what we could do with Dommy's mullet and ended up having him give Dommy a trim.
"Don't cut off his curls" pleaded Mommy, "just a tiny bit so he doesn't have a mullet!" Dommy wasn't too sure at first, when Ronny brought out a little booster that goes across the armrests and put on the black cape. Here's a "BEFORE" shot....

...and AFTER....

He's a handsome little devil, isn't he?! He did a great job sitting still for the haircut, and we saved some of those curly locks for his keepsake box that Toots Hamburg gave us when Dommy was born. He looks more like a two-year-old now, and is still growing to beat the band!

Hilton Head with the Cassinghams

As part of the Boston/Raleigh trip, we were able to drive down to Hilton Head, SC (4.5 hrs) from Raleigh and enjoy a great week with the Cassinghams at their timeshare. We took lots more fotos, but not on Mike's camera so they don't appear here. The temps were hot, so the Atlantic was very warm and it felt fantastic to just soak up the beach. We saw some dolphins and lots of brown pelicans of course, and Dommy had a blast playing in the ocean and 'making' (destroying) sand castles with Daddy. We also rented bicycles and drove around the island with the Cassinghams and Deisenroths (good friends), and took one day to tour Savannah, GA while we were there. The pics are all of us at the waterfront in Savannah, Dommy using Grandpa Cassingham's computer, getting off the bike at Banyard Plantation, peeking through the "tabby" walls at the plantation, and posing with Grandpa with their matching Gilligan hats. Don't miss the awesome Michigan State jersey that Grandpa and Grandma found for him, too!

Bean Town and Salem

Last week we went to Boston (among other destinations on the trip) for our good friend Jemima's wedding. Her actual wedding was in Salem (home of the witch trials), but it turns out that Salem is only like 13 miles from Boston and Logan is the closest airport. So, we flew there and got to see the sights as well as hang out with Mike Vivaldi and friends before the wedding. Here are some pics from Boston. The first is Dommy and Mike at Landowne's (sp?) Bar just outside the gates of Fenway Park, then Dommy windowshopping for beach balls, watching the Royals beat the Red Sox at Fenway.

Here's the family together at a fountain in Boston Common (Boston's Central Park), Kirsten and Dommy in front of Paul Revere's house, Dommy and Daddy on the metro train, and Dommy in a real Boston fire engine we encountered on the street while walking.

Here are fotos from Jemima's wedding at the historic Hawthorne Inn in Salem. Dommy had a blast with our tablemates, then cutting a rug during the reception. He's got an infectious smile for sure, but not positive where he gets those dance moves!

Big Boots
